Did you ever ask yourself this question? Or it
never comes to your mind?
This question was
been answered in the Catechism of St. Pius X: “God created us to
know, love and serve him in this life and to praise him in heaven”.
The young Giulia Salzano has memorized this phrase during the time
of her preparation for First Communion and was deeply moved by the
spirit to reflect more deeply on this
truth “ That if one will know who God is, then it is easy for him
to love and serve him “through this learning of God, one will find
it easy to go to God, and yet to place one’s hand at his work, you
will always feel to be insufficient. But according to the words of
Card. Guglielmo Sanfelice, “Not only the man who does the work, but
God who is omnipotent, does the work, and not us. The greatest
works were born from the nothing” she took heart again and thinking
to the answer that Jesus said to Margherita…. Thinking that the Lord
wanted the work and holding it the most sublime of every other, the
more appreciated to the heart of God, the most necessary to our
times and the more one wanted by the Pope, she decided to give it
ampler starting.
“..
difficulties, obstacles and even the persecution confirmed her
resolutions, always having of aim in her operate the first catechist
Jesus Christ and his successors the Apostles. Purpose of her work is
to form a centre, a family, a community that in the knowledges of
the Catholic religion is positively instructed for teaching to every
class of people the law of God, the duties of the Christian and to
recall all to the eternal truths, to the mottos of the Gospel.
And here we are, the
CATECHIST SISTERS OF
THE SACRED HEART was born on the
21st day
of November 1905 from the ardent love of this young girl to
the HEART OF JESUS and having the desire that all will know, love
and serve God.
These three words: KNOW, LOVE and SERVEguide the Catechist Sisters in their life of perfection
and in their apostolate.
Madre Giulia Salzano was beatified by Pope John
Paul II on April 17, 2003.
In that occasion, Cardinal Michele Giordano
expressed his sentiments:
Beloved,
We have in Madre
Giulia Salzano, a new model in which we can turn our gaze to start
again with Christ, evangelizer of the love of the Father. With Him
and the example of John the Evangelist, let us invoke the Lord that
we can rest in his divine and reveal in us the secret of his heart.
We have to become
like of that Heart, who made himself like sinners, the poor and the
ignorant. The Heart
that speaks of heart: this is the secret of the spirituality
with the capacity to indicate the way privilege for the faith of the
man of today in this third millennium, hunger for truth, with the
help of the Virgin Mary who meditated in the heart the marvels of
his Son, his Lord and God.
